Enchantment

Enchanted devices take the place of technological devices for the most part. Most of the everyday conveniences of modern life have their magical equivalents although the exact workings of each may be different. As a general rule an enchanted device will have the same name as its technological counterpart if it's name derives from usage so a Television is a Television in both worlds. However since a magical food warming device does not operate by microwaves it is called a Food Warmer rather than a Microwave.

Other known devices include:

  • Refrigerators
  • Crystal Balls, which function as Web Access points and wordprocessors. It's yet unclear if they also have other computational functions. A chat room parallel is called a Chant Rune. The network of crystal balls is referred to as "the ethernet."
  • Artificial Lighting
  • Mirrors, which seem to be a telecommunication device

Unsurprisingly enchantment also allows for some devices that have no parallel in our world, such as the Mockbox.

It seems likely, given the prevelance of enchanted items even in toys like the MecKnight enaction figures that it is possible to mass produce magical items in the MUniverse. This is quite rare in fantasy, particularly in the D&D worlds that many of the series's in-jokes draw on. However the MUniverse in many ways parallels our classical universe, and that would be very difficult to do without replicating the ubiquity of our technological conveniences.
