Demon Fire

At least some demons have an innate ability to self-immolate. This fire is called demon fire, and has a few distinct properties. Injuries caused by demon fire do not normally heal, and they are also resistant to divine healing magic.

Fire invoked by a demon may also be demon fire. At least, Mackenzie assumed that it was, as she indicated during the initial discussion of demon fire that Ian Mason's burn would not have healed normally. However, she may have been mistaken on this; the story has not indicated one way or the other. (The healer who fixed Ian's injury did not appear to have any difficulty - however, he could have been an arcane healer, who wouldn't have had any difficulty; he could have recognized the burn type, and used the more difficult divine magic needed to heal demon fire; he might use that healing magic just as a matter of course; and it's also possible he *had* difficulty, but Ian didn't notice, being too distracted by his pain.)
