This chapter covers a short span of the evening of Astera 11th, 222. It is Friday before school starts, "Week 0" of the story.

[edit] Plot Synopsis

Mackenzie approaches the Harlowe Fifth Floor Girls Lounge to find some people already there for the meeting. Others arrive after she does. When she arrives, she first notices her roommate, Puddy, who is sitting on the one couch and fondling and making out with a sylph. The two burrow gnomes are present, sharing a chair. The other chair is occupied by a bald girl with a snake's tongue. A half-ogre is also present, leaning against a wall. A girl with horns and a girl with two heads are also present, eyeing the pair on the couch with distaste. Both go into the kitchen area rather than sit by her. The kitchen was already occupied, by a deep elf and the golem which had been mentioned earlier.

Puddy soon notices Mackenzie's entrance, and gestures for her join them on the couch. Before she can, though, she is pushed aside by a girl with stone skin. A reptilian girl follows soon after. Mackenzie objects to Puddy calling her 'Mack', but joins her on the couch anyway. Two nymphs enter soon after, one wearing Prism Pride Coalition stickers, and the other with an Egg of Khersis pinned to her chest. Both are nude, which is how Mackenzie is able to identify them as nymphs.

Mackenzie muses about the way the three toughest looking girls seem to ring the room, and are visibly armed, while most of the others are not. Then, a girl with three eyes enters. She joins Mackenzie in the last spot on the couch, and they have a brief conversation concerning Mackenzie's presence there, which seems to embarrass the new girl.

Next to enter is a goblin, who simply sits on the floor. A feathered girl follows her, and stands at the front of the room, in such a fashion as to draw all attention to herself.

And then, the fox-eared girl and three cat-eared girls enter the lounge, whom Mackenzie had thought would not be sharing a floor with her.

  • A little more foreshadowing of Mackenzie's issues with religion, with her describing the Egg of Khersis in detail, and wincing away from it.
  • The two gnomes are Hazel and Honey
  • The two nymphs are Barley and Amaranth.
  • The three cat-eared girls are Maliko, Suzi, and Kai.
